Fylde Coast British Sign Language Centre

This is Janice Crossland-Jones a BSL/Deaf Awareness Tutor. Originally from Preston, Janice founded the Fylde Coast BSL Centre in 2007. It immediately appealed to the locality and surrounding areas and has been a very successful business in the relative short time of existence.

Before commencing at the Centre, Janice, whose natural first language is BSL, has been teaching in a number of establishments, including Universities in the North West and in London.

Hoping soon to be a qualified CACDP external assessor, she currently runs Foundation courses in BSL, including CACDP levels 1 to 3. Level 4 will be introduced at a later date. Current course of study is BSL Level 4 N.V.Q. (City College Manchester). Janice looks forward to teaching outside the Centre too, including schools, public services personnel and at detention centres etc.

Congratulations to our youngest students, Melissa Wilson, aged 8 and Abby Lea Hurwitch, aged 7, on completing their 6-week long Foundation Course at the Centre. We are very proud of them and we have great anticipation and confidence that they will go on to achieve even greater signing skills and qualifications to add to their achievements so far.
